From Black Widow to a new Blade and prepare yourself, a female Thor!
Come on and admit it, we all love the fantasy superhero that Marvel creates for us movie after movie. We are addicted, it seems we can’t get enough of them. Thankfully, Marvel studios doesn’t seem to be going anywhere especially after their latest announcements at Comic Con this week.
Marvels have been listening to their fans and are starting to create a more diverse line of characters and plots. Also, they have brought in some new indie directors for fresh ideas, and a whole new slew of actors and actress from different backgrounds and colors.
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studio’s spokesperson announced at San Diego’s Comic Con that Marvel would be releasing the franchises “Phase Four,” which will be a whole new set of movies.
If you recall Phase One made us fall in love with Marvel with Movies such as Iron Man, Capitan America and Thor. Then they came out with Phase Two, which involved Ant-man and Guardians of the Galaxy. Soon after, they released the Phase Three that gave us more diversity with Black Panther and Capitan Marvel. But after Feige’s announcement, it looks like we are in for a real treat with Phase Four.
Here is what you can expect to see in the next few years at the Cinema near you.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Finally, an Asian superhero played by the Canadian actor/stuntman Simu Liu. Shang-Chi was a cartoon character in Kung-Fu comics. To make the film even more exciting, it will be casting Awkwafina and Tong Leung. We are positive this movie will take our breath away.
Thor: Love and Thunder
Chis Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will both be returning to Thor but there will be a surprising twist that proves faithful to the original comic books. Natalie Portman who plays Jane Foster will be the new Thor, the Goddess of Thunder. She will be deemed worthy to carry the superhero’s powerful hammer. We love the new twist to this movie and can’t wait to hear more.
Wesley Snipes played Blade over 20 years ago, who had super-power to protect humankind from vampires but the torch is being passed over to Mahershala Ali. Marvel Studios has been dreaming of casting Mahershala as the main protagonist for Blade but hadn’t yet approached him. Mahershala gave Marvel Studios a call shortly after winning an Oscar for the Green Book.
Thor will present the first queer superhero
Tessa Thompson’s role in Thor is Valkyrie, and in the Avengers: Endgame she inherited the throne from Chris Hemsworth, King of Asgard. As King as Asgard, her first line of business will be finding herself a Queen. Fans just went crazy with this announcement, as Valkyrie will be the first Queer superhero in Marvel’s history.
The Eternals will cast some of Hollywood’s top actors and actresses, similar to the movie, the Guardians. Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden and Kumail Nanjiani will make up some of the cast. Also in Marvel’s goal to create a more inclusive list of superheroes, they will be casting the first deaf superhero.
Finally the rumor’s surrounding the Black Widow have been confirmed, Scarlett Johansson will play the Black Widow and the first movie will portray the origin of the acclaimed Russian Assassin, Natasha Romanov. Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh and David Habour will also play a part in spreading light on the Black Widow’s past.
